Gemma and Phil were married at Hollin Hall Country House Hotel, set in the heart of rolling countryside close to Macclesfield in Cheshire. Gemma is a makeup artist, and sees plenty of grandiose wedding days, so she and Phil wanted their wedding to be an intimate day; simple, classy and meaningful. Gemma's beautiful daughter served as flower girl, with her best friend as maid of honour. She chose a classic Stewart Parvin wedding gown and Benjamin Adams shoes, and Phil looked dapper in blue suit and ivory button hole. The stairs and ornate ceiling are a feature at Hollin Hall, so we couldn't go without a wide angle epic shot of Gemma and Phil on the staircase - but for the most part their photographs are made up of natural moments, laughter and happy tears, just as they wanted it. Congratulations to the happy couple, here's the highlights from their day.Read More
We met Alan and James at Norwood Park's wedding fair (we'll be there again on Sunday 19th March) and they booked shortly afterwards. They live in the same village I grew up in, in fact a childhood friend and local hairdresser Richie of McPherson Hairdressing did their hair on their wedding morning. They wanted a chilled out wedding with traditional touches such as the floral displays, bouquets and buttonholes by Flowers by Susan in Southwell. The wedding featured shades of blue, with 'best girls' instead of best men and their sisters acting as usherettes. We were there for a half day (a popular option for winter weddings) to capture the marriage ceremony and important photographs, with harpist Soraya Vermeulen entertaining guests throughout. We were lucky with the weather too, which stayed dry and crisp for most of the proceedings before the heavens opened as guests made their way to the wedding breakfast. The cake by Cherry Blossom Cakes was a four tier extravaganza taking pride of place at the reception.
It was a pleasure to be a part of Alan and James's day to capture the funny and intimate moments and, as the day got darker, we couldn't leave without taking a beautiful moody, atmospheric image in Norwood's library; the golden books seemed the perfect background to their blue suits. Here are their highlights.Read More
Lydia and Andy have been together for years but planned their wedding in just a few short months, wanting to celebrate the strength of their relationship and the importance of their friends and family. As I went to school with Lydia she was familiar with my photographs being posted on Facebook, so she contacted me to photograph the big day and Mirror Imaging was very honoured to do so. Southwell is where we both went to school and Norwood Park is a beautiful local venue and one of my favourites. We started the day with the girls getting ready and I captured some of Lydia's very covetable bridal accessories, including the stunning watch given as a gift from Andy and her unmistakable red-soled Louboutins! Then on to the picturesque Sutton-on-Trent church (well, a quick detour at the pub first to say hello to the groom!). Winds and a little drizzle didn't spoil the day at all, with the help of some fun umbrellas and the beauty of Norwood Park's gardens in full blossom. The cake needs a special mention, an eye-catching glamorous diamanté design by the talented No. 82 Cake Studio, which sparkled by the light of the super-sized light-up initials provided by Mad Philomena. We left an exuberant party in full swing, after capturing the dancing and merriment. Congratulations Lydia and Andy! Below are some 'photographer's favourites' as highlights of their wedding day.

Katie and Paul were married this month at Wollaton Church and held their wedding reception at Nottingham University. We started their day on the top floor of The Orchard Hotel and captured the hustle and bustle of getting ready with Katie and her five bridesmaids, two flowergirls, two pageboys, mum and mum-in-law, make-up artists and hairdressers! The flowers arrived courtesy of Zinc Floral Design, and Katie's unstructured, blousy bouquet was simply sensational. Katie handed out gifts to say thank you to her loved ones before we laced up her rather stunning dress. The light on the roof of the hotel is always so good, so we took a couple of images of Katie looking radiant, before dashing off to the church to meet Paul and his groomsmen at the church. The best men had organised a surprise for the couple (a surprise for me too!) in the form of an owl ring bearer called Tilly, who was absolutely enchanting and delivered the rings beautifully. After the ceremony, we made our way to a secluded part of the university for photographs, before heading to the Trent Building for Katie and Paul to rejoin their family and friends. The cake deserves a mention too as one of the best I've seen, immaculately iced in shades of coffee and cream to tone with Katie's dress, courtesy of April Delights. Here are some of Mirror Imaging's favourite moments to tell the story of their wedding day.Read More
Bethan and Josh were married in their church, the Trent Vineyard in Nottingham, a faith community and group of friends that are close to Bethan and Josh's hearts and lives. There was a huge attendance but it also had a very personal feel. Guests bought homemade cake to serve after the wedding ceremony, as well as indulging in the abundance of sweets in glass jars, before a bubble shower to celebrate the newlyweds. They drove off to cheers in Josh's beloved white Mark II Escort, gifted to him by his dad and restored over the years, which was beribboned for the occasion. We took some photographs in the nearby Nottingham University gardens before arriving at the Trent Building for their wedding reception. Here are some favourites from the day.Read More
Vicky and Peter held their wedding in July in central Nottingham. The day started with the girls in St James's Hotel near the castle, before we drove across Nottingham for the ceremony. Vicky and Peter are Egyptian and their church is Coptic Orthodox, with a big community of worshippers, some of whom joined in to celebrate their marriage ceremony, making 200 guests and a very full church! The interior of St Mary & St George Church is beautiful, decorated in gold and red with lots of symbolism, which is important to the Coptic faith. Vicky and Peter walked into church together, before being robed and crowned. The smell of incense filled the church whilst the Priests chanted and they ended with a love blessing. We took some images around the streets of Nottingham, taking advantage of the mix of urban and hidden leafy aspects of the inner city. Their reception was held in The Albert Hall and the Great Hall looked magnificent, with elaborate floral decoration and candlelight. There were so many beautiful images from their wedding, it was difficult to choose Mirror Imaging's favourites! Here are some highlights.Read More
Sarah and Tim's wedding took place the weekend before last, and it was a very cool, relaxed and fun affair with all of their many friends playing a part in their day. They also lucked-out with one of the few truly sunny days we've had this year, which was perfect for their garden fete wedding reception on the lawns of Cockliffe Country House Hotel. Their wedding ceremony was held at the picturesque St Michael's Church at Linby. Guests gathered in front of the nearby Horse & Groom Pub and enjoyed a drink in the sunshine, before the groomsmen walked up to the church and welcomed everyone to their seats. Sarah arrived, driven by her dad in a very cute open top vintage sports car and, impressively in high winds, without a hair out of place! After the ceremony, Tim and Sarah drove away in the same car to the cheers, whooping and applause of all their loved ones. The marquee was up on the lawn of the Cockliffe, decorated with a vintage, summer fete style that was quintessentially English and they'd provided outdoor games to keep guests entertained; a coconut shy and a badminton net with rackets. Sarah's mum and aunt need a special mention, who between them provided all the beautiful scented flowers and bouquets, made the bunting, the favours and made the stunning naked cake, one of the prettiest cakes I've seen. Here's my favourite images to tell the story of their wedding day.Read More
Katie and Paul are from Plymouth, but they're holding their wedding in Nottingham in September, with a church ceremony and wedding reception at The Trent Building at Nottingham University. We met up at Kelham House to wander around the gardens, take some photographs and then plan out their big day.Read More
Dawn and Nick were married on Friday in an intimate ceremony attended by just their immediate family. We wandered around the grounds of Kelham House in the afternoon, taking full advantage of the woodland setting and the sunlight streaming through the trees. Meanwhile, their family pulled up chairs around a big table and enjoyed Pimms under the shade of a tree. I absolutely love Dawn's bouquet, created after instructing her florist 'I don't care what flowers you use, as long as they're bright!'. Their wedding was relaxed and meaningful, just the way it should be.Read More
When Sam and Nathan came for their engagement photoshoot and we talked through their wedding day plans, I knew it was going to be an epic and rather special affair. Choosing quality details was really important to them both - so for example, each guest was simply but generously gifted a small bottle of Lanson Champagne, which decorated the reception tables at Norwood Park in Southwell. Nathan designed Sam's stunning engagement ring with local Nottingham wedding jewellers Temprell and he also followed suit with the wedding bands... creating bespoke and meaningful rings for both him and Sam, who also chose diamond and sapphire bridal jewellery for her 'something blue'.
Another Nottingham company, designer Paul Smith, provided the groomsmen's accessories to coordinate with their blue Reiss suits, ensuring they all looked 'the business'. They certainly arrived at St Mary's Church in Arnold in style, as Nathan had chosen a rather impressive Bentley 'groom's car', which we heard approaching the church before we saw it! And last but not least deserving of a mention, are Sam's much coveted Louboutin shoes, made into an even more romantic gift as Nathan drove a very long way to make sure she got the shoes of her dreams, and then made the trip again to make sure the colour was just what she wanted!
We captured their wedding from morning through to evening and the mild weather allowed us to make full use of Norwood Park's gardens for photographs, although we also made time for two indoor photographs that have become Mirror Imaging classics: the full-length dress photograph on Norwood's staircase and the couple in dancing embrace in the main hallway. The finale of their wedding was a fantastic firework display by Galaxy Fireworks, which provided us an opportunity to create one of my now all-time favourite images, which also happened to be the last photograph of the night.Read More
Lee-Anne and Rob were married last week at The Saxon Mill bar and restaurant - a converted (but working!) mill on the banks of The River Avon with rather beautiful views of the Warwickshire countryside. It's a popular place with locals who go to enjoy a drink and the view, and it also played host to Lee-Anne and Rob's first date, so it holds special importance to the couple. We were blessed with a blue sky and fluffy white clouds, which made for a rather epic photograph of Lee-Anne and Rob in the field behind the mill. I also love the group photograph on the bridge; as they had an intimate wedding of just over 30 guests we captured each and every one's happy expression! Lee-Anne made many of her wedding and reception details, with the help of close friends and family, lovingly stitching each decoration by hand.
Congratulations Lee-Anne and Rob!Read More
Dawn contacted me a while back after seeing me on Kelham House's list of recommended photographers and after speaking on the phone, she booked me for her wedding to Nick in July. It will be an intimate affair, no bridesmaids or best man, just a small number of their closest friends and family. This will be a lovely wedding to photograph; relaxed, personal and meaningful. We met up in Farnsfield to take a photo-walk amongst the trees and greenery, not forgetting a close-up of Dawn's incredibly pretty and unique pale sapphire engagement ring.Read More
Vicky got in touch a while back about photographing her wedding to Peter and I knew straight away I wanted to be their photographer. For one, she's going to make a beautiful bride! Their Nottingham wedding will also be a huge affair in the town centre, bringing together their Egyptian and English roots with much celebration and merriment. Lastly, it is clear how much Peter adores his bride-to-be, and it's lovely to witness such attentive, sincere affection between them. In contrast to the urban setting for their wedding, I wanted to take their engagement photographs in lush, green surroundings. Newstead Abbey is looking rather beautiful at this time of year and is very quiet in the week, so it seemed the perfect choice. Drinks and thorough planning of their day followed in the nearby Hutt pub! It is, by the way, completely correct and in keeping with their wedding traditions to wear the engagement ring on the right hand ring finger!Read More
We met up with Sarah and Tim in Farnsfield at the weekend for their engagement photographs and we all laughed for most of the way through! We're really looking forward to this wedding, we think it's going to be a lot of fun! They're getting married in July in Linby with their wedding reception at the nearby Cockliffe Country House. Sarah and Tim were introduced to Mirror Imaging via mutual friends. After their photographs we shared a bottle of Prosecco in the local pub and planned out their big day.Read More
Sarah and Dave moved to Australia about four years ago and are returning to Nottingham in May next year to hold their wedding. Dave used to be a part of the team at World Service Restaurant and, as one of the best restaurants in the city, it made sense that they'd choose World Service to host their wedding reception.
They were back visiting Nottingham this week for their engagement party with their UK friends and family, as well as taking the opportunity to meet up with Mirror Imaging for a 'photo-walk' around Nottingham Castle and The Park. We also made some wedding plans and worked through the timings of their day, toasting their engagement with a glass of bubbly - because what better way to show off an engagement ring than with a glass of champagne in hand?! I am excited to be capturing their wedding next year - they've made some gorgeous choices for their day that reflect my tastes too and it promises to be a rather wonderful celebration.
I absolutely love their engagement photographs, it's clear they're the best of friends as well as life partners and this shines through in their images.Read More
Last weekend we met up with Lee-Anne and Rob in Newark for their engagement photographs, ahead of their Warwick wedding at the end of the month. I've known Lee-Anne since primary school, so its a double honour to be photographing her wedding day. The gardens around Newark Castle behind the Gilstrap Registry Office and along the river proved a gorgeous backdrop for their engagement session. We were hit with a great rainstorm half way through but after taking shelter under the bandstand the sun came out again!Read More
Sam and Nathan are getting married at Norwood Park at the end of May, with some wonderful wedding ideas and details in the making that make a wedding photographer clap her hands together with anticipation. We met up at the weekend to capture some pre-wedding images, with thanks to nearby Hexgreave Estate for providing a secluded and picturesque backdrop. They are a super lovely couple and I'm really pleased they've chosen Mirror Imaging to be a part of their day.Read More
I met with Bethan and Josh for the first time properly at their engagement shoot last week. Bethan's mum had booked me after a Wedding Open Day at Nottingham University, which is where they are having their wedding reception later in the year. They are a very lovely, happy couple and clearly perfect for each other, so there was lots of laughter and giggling, which just makes their engagement images all the more special. With thanks to the Lakeside for use of their gardens which provided a great backdrop.Read More
